* 19 March: Muhammed is beaten in Khoi, Azerbaijan by his brother the sultan saljûqide Barkyaruq; A peace is signed in: Barkyaruq keeps the title of Sultan and Isfahan, Iraq `Ajami and Fars, Muhammed Azerbaijan, Armenia, Diyarbakır and Mosul, Sanjar keeps the Khorassan and Transoxiane.
* May: Ridwan's father-in-law of Aleppo, Janah al-Dawla, Emir of Homs, was murdered by the batini in the great mosque of Aleppo during Friday's prayer. The Assassin sect then sent a new Persian adviser, Abu Tahir, to Ridwan.
* Release of Bohemond from Taranto by Danichmend against two hundred and sixty thousand ransom dinars and the release of Yaghi Siyan's daughter, the former master of Antioch, who was captive. Bohémond returned to Antioch, where he charged Muslims from nearby cities the price of his ransom, and then left for Europe.

* May: The Crusaders under King Balduin I of Jerusalem unsuccessfully besieged the Fatimid city of Akkon.
* Tancred is deprived of his lordship by Bohemond's return, and is rewarded with a small fief within the Principality of Antioch. The Crusader under Raymond IV invades the Beqaa Valley and captures Tortosa to isolate Tripoli.

* 6 January: Assembly of Mainz. Emperor Henry IV proclaims Imperial Peace (Landfrieden). In particular, it protects Jews against the payment of a certain tax.
* 10 July: King Eric I of Denmark dies in Cyprus during a pilgrimage to Jerusalem; his wife and daughter continue their journey.
