13 January: Richard Lion's Heart marches on Jerusalem, but has to give up because of problems of supply and harassment of his army by Saladin's troops.
January-May: Richard Lion's Heart has the fortifications of Ascalon rebuilt by Saladin.
April 5: Cypriots revolt against the Order of the Temple.
April: The Order of the Temple ends the Cypriot revolt, but returns the island to Richard the Lion Heart.
28 April: Conrad de Montferrat, king of Jerusalem, is murdered in Tyre.
May 3: Guy of Lusignan receives the island of Cyprus in exchange for his renunciation of the kingdom of Jerusalem.
May 5: Henry II of Champagne marries Isabelle , Queen of Jerusalem.
May: The Pisans, supported by Guy de Lusignan, rebelled in Tyre, but Henry II of Champagne ended the revolt.
June: Richard Lion's Heart marches on Jerusalem, but has to give up because of the problems of supply and harassment of his arming by Saladin's troops.
August and August 5: Richard Lion's Heart twice beat Saladin in the Battle of Jaffa.
September 3: Richard Lion's Heart concludes peace with Saladin.
9 October: After reconquering part of the kingdom of Jerusalem and strengthening of the cities, Richard Lion's Heart leaves the Holy Land.
December 20: Richard Coeur-de-Lion, king of England, returning from the Crusade, is captured in Vienna by Emperor Henry VI.
