January: Kubilai Khan sends a punitive expedition to Java Island. His Mongols were victorious in the early fighting, with some of the island's rulers joining them. The islanders' growing resistance forces them to leave.

April 26: Jayakatwang surrender. Raden Wijaya founded the kingdom of Majapahit. He managed to neutralize his former allies the Mongols who sailed, carrying a rich spoil.
