After the death of Antiochus VII, his brother Demetrios II takes over. Once again the rule in the Seleucid Empire.
The Roman troops defeat Aristonikos, the illegitimate son of Eumenes II. The Pergamenian Empire falls to Rome. The Romans form the province of Asia from the empire.
129 BC: Darius becomes ruler of Elymais.
129/128 BC Alexander II. Zabinas is raised with the support of the Egyptian King Ptolemy VIII against Demetrius II as the counter-king of the Seleucid Empire. Ptolemy, who is at this time in exile in Cyprus, and a civil war against his sister consort Cleopatra II. He is the adopted son of Antiochus VII, who had fallen shortly before in the fight against the Parthians, or the son of Alexander I. Balas. Alexander takes power in Antiocheia, Apameia and other Syrian cities.
