January
16 January: Official launch of OM TV, French television channel dedicated to Olympique de Marseille.
17 January: French striker Thierry Henry leaves AS Monaco, his training club, and joins the Italian team of the Juventus. The transaction is estimated at 75 million francs (about 11.5 million euros).
29 January, French Championship: at Parc Lescure, the Girondins de Bordeaux won 4-1 on the Olympique de Marseille, with a double of attacker Sylvain Wiltord.

27 March, Euro 2000 eliminations: Spain's huge victory over Austria (9-0). Madrid striker Raúl scored 4 goals.

20 April, Under-20 World Cup, final: Spain wins the World Under-20 by beating Japan 4-0.
April 28: Michael Ballack receives his first team selection from Germany in a friendly meeting with Scotland.

8 May, League Cup, final: RC Lens wins the League Cup against FC Metz (1-0).
May 9: Bayern Munich is Germany's champion.
12 May, UEFA Cup, final: Parma wins the UEFA Cup by winning 3-0 in the final against Olympique de Marseille. This is the second UEFA Cup won by the parmesan club and is the first time OM has reached the final of this competition.
15 May, Coupe de France, finale : Nantes wins 1-0 against Sedan. This is the second Coupe de France won by the canaries.
16 May: Manchester United is champion of England.
19 May, European Cup of Cup Winners, final: Lazio wins the European Cup of Cup Winners by winning 2-1 against RCD Majorca. This is the last edition of the Cup of Cups.
22nd May, England Cup, final: Manchester United wins the FA Challenge Cup by winning 2-0 against Newcastle United.
23 May:
FC Barcelona is champion of Spain.
Milan AC is the Italian champion.
26 May, UEFA Champions League, final: Manchester United takes the Champions League from Bayern Munich in the final minutes of the game: 2-1. This is the second Champions League won by the Red Devils. Manchester achieved a historic triple by winning the same season the Champions League, the Championship and the England Cup.
29 May:
The Girondins of Bordeaux won the French Championship. The Girondins won the PSG at the very end of the match and deprived the Olympique de Marseille of a title.
