The first category of men's football 2019-20 was the 43rd edition of Cyprus's first class football under the auspices of the Cyprus Football Federation. The league was discontinued due to the COVID-19 Pandemic in Cyprus.

Operating system
In the 2019–20 first-class championship 8 teams participated. It was held in two phases. In the first phase, all teams competed between them twice, once inside and one away.

The first four teams gave each other play off matches to promote the champion. The teams competed as follows: 1st-4th, 2nd-3th. The winners of the two couples would give play off matches to promote the champion. The other two teams would give a ranking match for third and fourth place.

Teams that finished in the last four positions gave each other play off matches to avoid scoring. The teams competed as follows: 5th-8th, 6th-7th. The losers of the two couples would give play off matches for the promotion of the team that would be demoted to the Second Division 2020-21. The other two teams gave a ranking match for fifth and sixth place.

All the rounds measured the wins the teams had achieved in the first phase of the league. To qualify for the next round one team of each pair had to achieve 4 wins (with the exception of winning third and fifth places where the match was single). The play off matches began at the headquarters of the team that had finished higher in the first phase ranking and continued alternately in the seats of the two teams until the completion of the phase.

The league team would secure participation in the 2019–20 Men's Football Challenge Cup.

Score system
The racing scoring system was as follows:
In a win with and set the winner got 3 points and the loser none.
In victory with the winner set he received 2 points and the defeated 1 point.

Classification criteria
The teams were ranked based on the total number of points they won. In case of a tie in the total number of points won by two or more teams the ranking criteria were:
Higher ranked the team with the highest number of points.
In the event of a tie the teams were ranked in descending order depending on the total number of wins each team with the team that had most wins leading.
If the teams had the same number of wins they were ranked according to the difference between the winning and lost sets of each group as a whole, with the group that had the biggest difference leading.
If the tie continued the teams were ranked according to the fraction resulting from the division of the winnings with each team's lost sets in their entirety, with the group having the largest fraction leading.
