2007 Turkey presidential choice, Turkey’s 11th presidential choice. Starting in April and the incidental process was completed in August 28, with the choice of Abdullah Gül’s president.

1. Selection process

Before Selection

10. President Ahmet Necdet Sezer’s task time was held in 16 May 2007. TBMM, the final application date of the presidential candidate was 25 April night and the first round vote day was 27 April. According to this opinion, it was claimed that at least 367 people should join, otherwise the result will be invalid. Thus, the number of chairs in the parliament was 354, the power party would not choose the president with their own vote alone. At the same time, the main opposition party leader Deniz Baykal said that the power party will not participate in voters in case of uncompromising its own candidate and the 367 discussions should be taken seriously.

Votes

Kayseri nationvekili Abdullah Gül, Minister of foreign Affairs of the period of the Iktidar party, nominated. In the meantime, the power was made an application for the candidate of the Ankara nations and the Ersönmez Yarbay, but the Yarbay was withdrawn from the candidate before the first round vote. The first round vote was held on April 27. In total 361 votes, Abdullah Rose 357 votes. Immediately after voting, the choice of CHP 367 was moved to the Constitutional Court. In the evening of the same day, the General Staff of the Presidency on the website, then the e-muhtıra, a press release was put. In the description, the discussion of the civilization was made in the elections and the General Staff was said to be the party in this regard. The Constitutional Court cancels the first round vote made by accepting the claim of 367 in May 1. On May 6th, the meeting is enough to find the number (367) because of the absence of two destructions. President was not selected.

Participation

After selection
On the decision of the vote cancellation of the Constitutional Court, the choice of the President has not been repeated yet, the decision of the early general election from the EC Party has been presented; the proposal for the election on June 24 was presented. Afterwards, the decision of the selection of the High Selection Board to be able to work on the selection calendar of 22 July was decided to choose with the support of all parties.
