2012–13 FC Rotor Volgograd Season

The 2012–13 season was the second consecutive year that FC Rotor Volgograd played in the Russian National Football League. The club, which had been founded in 1925, was looking to build on its previous season's success and establish itself as a force in the lower divisions of Russian football.

As part of their preparations for the new season, the team began training in June 2012 with a two-week camp in Hungary. This period allowed the players to fine-tune their skills and get accustomed to each other's playing styles ahead of the upcoming campaign. The coaching staff, led by Valery Burlachenko, also used this opportunity to introduce several new recruits to the team.

The season got underway on July 4, 2012, with a press conference at the Central Stadium where Rotor President Sergey Nechai and his coaches outlined their strategy for the year ahead. However, it was not long before the team faced its first major setback when midfielder Nikita Glushkov suffered a fifth metatarsal fracture during a match against Siberia on July 16.

Despite this injury, which would keep Glushkov out of action for several weeks, Rotor continued to push forward with their campaign. In September 2012, the team participated in a friendly match that doubled as an appeal to host one of the 2018 World Cup matches. The game, which was attended by young players from local sports schools and current team members, ultimately ended in defeat but served as a valuable experience for the squad.

Throughout the season, Rotor continued to face challenges on and off the pitch. However, with their sights set firmly on promotion to higher divisions of Russian football, the team remained committed to their goals and worked tirelessly towards achieving success.
