In the Persian Empire
King of the Persian (Ahemendian) Empire is Cyrus II the Great (559 " 530 B.C.E.).
Contrary to the expectations of his enemies at the beginning of the year and regardless of the winter season Cyrus invaded Lydia and appeared with his troops under the walls of the capital Sardi. The Lydian army was defeated in battle on the surrounding plains, and the capital itself was successfully stormed after 14 days of siege.

Thus he became a tyrant of Athens for the third time and remained in power about 18 years until his death.
