The 75th edition of the International Film Festival was held in Venice from 29 August to 8 September 2018, also directed this year by Alberto Barbera and organized by the Biennale chaired by Paolo Baratta.

The godfather of the exhibition was the Italian actor Michele Riondino, who presented the opening and closing ceremony of the event. The list of films scheduled at the 75th Exhibition was announced at the press conference held on July 25, 2018 at the Cinema Moderno in Rome. The opening film was First Man by Damien Chazelle.

The Biennale has announced the award of the Golden Lion to the career of David Cronenberg and Vanessa Redgrave.

The jury was chaired by Mexican director, screenwriter and producer Guillermo del Toro, winner of the Golden Lion at the best film for The Shape of Water in the previous edition.

The Golden Lion for Best Film was awarded to Rome by Alfonso Cuarón, distributed by Netflix
