77
--- CONTENT ---
The year 77 () was a common year beginning on Wednesday (link will display the full calendar) of the Julian calendar.
In the Roman Empire, it was known as the Year of the sixth consulate of Vespasian and Tito (or less frequently, year 830 Ab urbe condita). The designation 77 for this year has been used since the beginning of the medieval period, when the Anno Domini became the prevailing method in Europe to name the years.
Events
In the Roman Empire, the Emperor Vespasian and his son Tito together exercise the consulate for the sixth time (also in 70, 72, 74, 75 and 76), being the eighth consulate of the emperor and the sixth of his son.
Plinio el Viejo published the first of his ten books on natural history.
There is an earthquake in Cyprus, which causes three cities. (Maybe it happened the following year.)
