Papagou Athletic Association is a Greek sports association active in the homonymous suburb of Athens, Attica, since 1966. Official colors of the club are blue and white. As it was founded in the newly formed district of officers at the time, its members are called caressing "Generals" to date. The emblem of the group is lightning, as inspired by Margaritis Panagiotidis from Thyla, an unofficial group of the suburb, a precursor to today.
The men's basketball division is legally one of the club's amateur parts. It was created in 1976, ten years after the football division was founded. The seat of all the basketball sections of Papagos is the closed Gym of Papagos "Salloun", with a capacity of 800 spectators.

Establishment
The Papagou Athletic Association was founded as a football union in 1966, when it merged with another local team, the Storm (from there comes the lightning on its emblem. In the mid 1970s the first basketball team was formed under the care of coaches Costas Bogatsiotis initially and then Kostas Diamantopoulos (the first was the godfather of the second son, George Diamantopoulos).
In 1976-77 the team's first presence in the Greek Cup is witnessed, where there were many teams from both local and national championships. In the following years Papagou began to rise with slow steps the local categories of E.S.C. Attica.
Rise (1986-1990)
Papago's team first competed in its history in a national league in 1986–87, having won last spring the Attica First Division Championship. In particular it was one of 14 teams that formed the only group of the Second National. In the final ranking she was in 5th place, ensuring her stay. With regard to the institution of the Greek Cup, he joined him in the context of Phase II, where he successively defeated Protea New World with a score of 78-87 and at home the Piraeus Association with a score of 95-82. In Phase III he met the defeat and consequently the exclusion from Olympiacos Piraeus who became the winner at his headquarters with a score of 120–88.
The following year, 1987–88, Papagou returned to the stadiums of the Second National. This time he completed his racing obligations in 7th place of the scoreboard, without risking being demoted. In the qualifiers of the Greek Cup event, Larisa Gymnastics was forced to lose 77-83. In the 1st Phase I Racing, however, he failed to defend his seat against Peristeri (76-78 the final score).
