Limassol Athletic Association

The Limassol Athletic Association, commonly referred to as A.E.L. or AEL Limassol, is a Cypriot sports association based in the city of Limassol.

History

A.E.L. was founded on October 4, 1930, by a group of prominent members of the Limassol society. The founding general meeting took place at the "Saint George" bakery on St. Andreou Street. The team's name was inspired by Dimitris Chepis, one of its founders and the first coach of the football team.

Sections

A.E.L. maintains a wide range of sports sections, including:

* Football (men's)
* Women's basketball
* Men's basketball
* Women's football
* Sala football
* Handball
* Bowling
* Billiards

The association has also previously maintained sections for men's football, water sports (water polo and lembodromes), hockey, and cycling.

Colors and Identity

Since its founding, the Limassol Athletic Association has adopted blue and yellow as its official colors. The first identities of A.E.L. members began to be issued on July 1.
