Hasan Aksay: Former Turkish General and Commander of the Air Force

Hasan Aksay is a former Turkish general who served as the last commander of the Air Force (Hava Kuvvetleri) from 2009 to 2011. Born on August 13, 1947, in Ödemiş, Izmir Province, Turkey, Aksay graduated from the Air Harp School in 1965 and later completed his training as a pilot at the Flight School between 1967 and 1969.

Aksay's military career began after he attended the Peace Mortar of Cyprus in 1974. He worked with various troops connected to the Air Forces until 1979, when he graduated from the Air Harp Academy. Aksay then served as an educational officer in the Fleet Commandship and later became a master jet commander at the Ottawa Military Embassy.

In 1994, Aksay was promoted to Tuğgeneral (Lieutenant General) and took on key roles within the Air Forces, including serving as the main Jet Üs Commander for Plan Harekat Department. He continued to rise through the ranks, becoming Korgeneral in 2002 and later Orgeneral in 2007.

Aksay's most notable position was as commander of the Harp Academys from 2007 until his retirement on August 25, 2009. During this time, he also led the Air Force Command task assigned by NATO to Bosnia and Herzegovina. In July 2011, Aksay requested retirement and was accepted.

Throughout his career, Aksay has held various positions within the Turkish military, including serving as a staff officer, commanding aircraft training units, and overseeing operations at several air bases in Turkey. He is also a member of Galatasaray Sports Club and has been married with two children.
