Classification of Statistical Zone Units used by the Republic of Cyprus (IBBS)
The Classification of Statistical Zone Units used by the European Union countries, specifically for the Republic of Cyprus, is known as IBBS (French: nomenclature d'unités territoriales statistiques, NUTS). This classification system is instrumental in delivering the European Union's Structural Funds.
IBBS Codes
* CY0: Cyprus
* CY00: Cyprus
* CY000: Cyprus
Local Administration Units
The IBBS levels are further divided into two local units (English: Local Administrative Units, LAU) levels:
### NUTS Levels
Cyprus constitutes a single NUTS region at all three NUTS levels. The European Union's Eurostat has established a hierarchical structure consisting of three levels for Cyprus, with the following codes:
* CY: Cyprus
However, due to its small population, Cyprus does not have subdivisions covered by the NUTS levels.
### Local Administrative Units (LAU)
Below the NUTS levels, there are two LAU levels. In Cyprus, LAU 1 corresponds to districts, and LAU 2 represents municipalities. These divisions help in the administration and organization of statistical data at a local level.
Geographic Organisation
The geographic organisation of Cyprus is further divided into:
* Dimoi (Δήμοι) and Koinotites (Κοινότητες): urban and rural communities, totaling 615 units.
