Agios Nikolaos is a village located in the Paphos District of Cyprus. It is situated approximately 3 kilometers north of Praitori (also known as Pretori).

Geography and Climate

The village is situated at an altitude of about 730 meters above sea level, approximately 47 kilometers east of Paphos city. Agios Nikolaos borders several villages, including Mylikouri to the north, Agios Ioannis to the northwest, Arminou and Filousa Kelokedaron to the west, Pretori to the south, Arsos to the southeast, Fini and Omodos to the east, and Kaminaria to the northeast. The village can be accessed via the E810 and F616 roads.

The vegetation in Agios Nikolaos includes pine trees, cypresses, and fruit trees such as apple, pear, peach, and nectarine trees. There are also areas with sprawling vegetation throughout the village.

History

In the 9th century, a monastery dedicated to Saint Nicholas was built in the area. The church associated with this monastery is an important historical landmark in the region.

Demographics

According to the census of 2011, Agios Nikolaos had a population of 61 inhabitants. In 2001, the village had a population of 74 inhabitants, as reported by the statistical service of the Republic of Cyprus.
