"Alexander Psychoulis"

Alexander Psychoulis (1966) is a Greek painter, artist and comic book creator. He still deals with animation, video art and has written plays.

He is Professor of Art and Technology at the Department of Architectural Engineering, University of Thessaly. Since 2017 he has been the director of the Postgraduate Programme "METAVITECHNICAL DESIGN/design and artistic practices for the design of everyday life" in the Department of Architectural Engineering, University of Thessaly.

Project
He was born in Volos in 1966. In 1984-1986 he studied at the TEI graphic design of Athens.
In 1986 he entered the Athens School of Fine Arts, where he graduated in 1993, while in 1992 he studied through Erasmus program at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.

In 1993-1994 he is a "called artist" at the Research Centre for Art and Sciences, founded by artist Takis.

Since January 1997 he has been editor-in-chief at the CD-ROM magazine AEON 21.

In 1998 he presents the video-dance, lasting 7.25' "Two street stories", in collaboration with the dance team Sine Qua Non, Open Theatre, Athens.

From September 2000 until today he teaches "Art and Technology" at the Department of Architects and Engineering, University of Thessaly, where he is currently an assistant professor.

In 2000 he writes the play "I don't believe in your eyes", which goes up that same year
in the New World theatre directed by Emmanuel Koutsoureli. In the same year he shoots the 63–1 video ""Messiterranean Desert", Concerto for Piano, Cheballo & Video" in music
George Koumedakis, which is shown in galleries in Athens, London and Naosima (Japan).

In 2001 the comic-album "Pit Bull unscrupulous performers" is released from Oxy publications, which mocks the visual space.

In 2002 he participates with 8 interactive Flash Animations in cd "George Koumedakis - 4 works for Aris Christofelis" by SIRIUS label. The same year presents "Warholic" a club event with interactive facilities and public participation, in collaboration with choreographer Constantine Rigos.

In 2003 he presents the "PLAYBACK", a installation/presentation of the book of the author Thanos Stathopoulos at Lab Art Project in Athens.

In 2004 he created the animations for the "First Love / PLAYBACK" theatre performance by Samuel Beckett in transfer Thanos Stathopoulos and directed by Emmanuel Koutourellis to the Theatre Chora, Athens.

He has done many solo exhibitions in Greece and abroad and has participated in many groups.

He has worked on designing many forms and posters, while as an editor or illustrator he collaborated with journals 01, KLIC, EPsilon and SYNBOL.

In his work is the dominant use of new technology, such as computer graphics, video animation and video art.
