Alki Larnaca

Overview

Alki Larnaca was a Cypriot sports association from Larnaca, Cyprus. It was a professional football club that played for over 65 years before ceasing operations in May 2014 due to financial difficulties.

History

The club was founded on April 10th, 1948, during a time of conflict between the rulers and left-wing political parties in Greece. The team's early years were marked by participation in the Amazon Foundation competition from 1948 to 1953. In 1954, Alki Larnaca became a member of the Cyprus Football Federation.

Achievements

During its existence, Alki Larnaca played 43 seasons in Category A, ranking 12th among Cypriot football clubs. The team's best achievement was taking third place in the Cyprus tournament. They also participated in the Kipriu Cup five times but never won it.

In the 1979-80 season, Alki Larnaca competed in the USFA Cup.

The club's colors were red and blue.

Disbandment

Alki Larnaca ceased operations in May 2014 due to financial problems. The team had been struggling financially for some time before its eventual disbandment.
