Alliance Prayer Week

--- CONTENT ---
Alliance Prayer Week is a worldwide week of prayer for evangelical Christians initiated by the Evangelical Alliance.

The Alliance Prayer Week was founded on the initiative of the founding assembly of the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) in 1846 and was first held in 1861. In the German-speaking countries, the Alliance Prayer Week usually takes place in the second full week of January, in the other countries in the first full week of January. Local alliances are organizing prayer meetings this week for Christians from different communities, groups and circles of the locality. Every year in German-speaking Europe, Evangelical Christians from various regional and free churches participate in this prayer initiative at about 1000 locations.

Today, the Week of Prayer is mainly supported by the European Evangelical Alliance (EEA). Each year, a national alliance creates the materials for the Week of Prayer. In 2009 the template came from Austria, in 2010 it was jointly prepared by the Czech and Dutch alliances and in 2011 by the alliances in Cyprus and Greece. The national alliances produce materials based on the templates, which are adapted to the circumstances of their own country.
