Antony P. Argyros (1952) is a Greek lawyer and author who has served as Minister of State.

Biographical data

He was born in Sparta Kefalonia and is the son of the teacher Panagiotis Antonios Argyros, an educator from Paxos, and Hero Gregory Panas.

He studied law at the University of Thessaloniki and practiced fighting law since 1976 at the Council of State and the Supreme Court.

He served as a member of the ASEAD, the Ministry of Justice's law-making committee, the Special Court of Article 88 of the Constitution (Wage Court ) (2004 – 2009), the Tribunal for malpractice lawsuits (2004 – 2009) and a member of the Supreme Disciplinary Board of Lawyers (2004–2009).

Secretary of the New Democracy political party's Parliamentary Justice Work Group (1982–2004).

Vice-Chairman of the Land Society (2009),

Legal adviser on Public Law matters of the General Secretariat of the Cabinet (1990-1993).

Legal Adviser to the National Institute for the Reception and Restoration of the Former Greek (1990 - 2004) Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On 17 May 2012, during the appointment of the Panayiotis Pickrafis Service Government by the President of the Republic Charles Papoulias, he took over Minister of State until the elections took place on 17 June 2012.

He served as a member of the Committee for the Certification of Ombudsmen, Article 6(1) of Law 3898/2010 of the Ministry of Justice (2012-2014)☃,

He was: Legal Adviser to the Council of the Rectors of the Greek AEI. (2011–2014).

He served as: Deputy legal adviser to the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens(2004-2019),

He served as a adviser to the Deputy Prime Minister Panayiotis O.Pikremou (2019-2023).

He is a member of the editorial group of the legal journal of the Athens Bar Association "Legal Step".

He served as Secretary General of the Trade Unionist-Scientific Organization of Laws under the name "Democratic Movement of New Lawyers" {1985-1989).

He served as a member of the Scientific Committee of the IAS "Constitutional Freedoms and Human Rights" 2000.

He was one of the first to appeal against the property fee( St. Ol 3342/2013).

He represented as a proxy lawyer, the IRS during the proceedings of the Memorandum before the Council of State (Steol 2527/2013, and the Court of Human Rights (Kofakis case, etc.), and the Greek Universities (Steol 1465-1468/2013), in the trials of Law 4009/2011(Steol 519,521,522,523/2015) and issues of their staff( St. Ole 1469/2016).

Rapporteur in the cases of the Special Court referred to in Article 88 S, Decisions 1/2005 and 13/2006 on the special payroll of judges.

Plenipotentiary lawyer of S.H.I.E. in the historic decision of the plenary of ST 430/2022 on the protection of many children's families according to the Constitution.
