Schein & Sein is a 2012 album by Pur.

Creation and publication
After the release of the album Wunsch in 2009 and the following tour, fundamental changes occurred in the group: The founding member Roland Bless left Pur and was officially replaced by Martin Ansel, who had worked with the group for many years as guest musician and producer. However, the group initially dedicated itself to an acoustic project (Live the Third – Acoustic, 2010) and went on an acoustic tour in 2011.

The songs of the album were written between spring 2011 and summer 2012. Unlike previous albums, Hartmut Engler on Schein & Sein did not process personal crises. The album was under the theme of lie and truth from the beginning, so this time the lyrics were in focus and the music was adapted to the lyrics. However, this is not a concept album.

On October 26, 2012, with The Best Possible Attempt, the first single of the album was precoupled; She reached number 33 on the German singles charts. The second pre-coupling Stark, which Engler wrote for his sons, could not place himself in the charts. In Sacre-Cœur and Leonie Tamina Engler processed self-experiences; Lucy is about his house cat, which can also be seen floating on red balloons on the album cover. The album cover itself shows, among other things, the members of Pur as fantasy characters.

Pur presented the album Schein & Sein for the first time in autumn 2012 in front of 500 fans as part of a one-week fan tour with concert in Cyprus. The new album was released on 16 November 2012 and reached number two on the German album charts. It was Pur's first album since Seiltänzertraum (1993) that did not reach the top of the charts.

The German tour to the album should start on 15 February 2013 in the Dortmunder Westfalenhalle; The preview was for the 13th. February 2013 at the Gerry Weber Stadium in Halle (Westf.). Due to a vocal cord irritation of Hartmut Engler, however, the first concerts of the tour were postponed, so that the tour opener finally on 23. February 2013 took place in the Olympiahalle Munich. The last concert of the tour was for the 5th. March 2013 in the Cologne Lanxess-Arena planned, the last catch-up concert of the tour finally took place on 23. March 2013 in the Dortmunder Westfalenhalle. On June 14, 2013, Schein & Sein – Live aus Berlin released the DVD for the tour.
