Biography
Arturo Pérez-Reverte Gutiérrez is a Spanish writer, journalist, and academic. He was born on November 25, 1951, in Cartagena.
### Early Life and Education
Pérez-Reverte studied at the former Marists of Cartagena, where he was expelled after completing his 4th year of Baccalaureate. He then attended the Isaac Peral Institute, where he completed his high school education in the Letras branch with a group of young professors. During this time, he participated in Proa, the magazine of the institute, which marked his first journalistic activity.
### Career
Pérez-Reverte graduated in Journalism from the Complutense University of Madrid. He began his career as a reporter for the newspaper Pueblo in 1973 and worked there for about twenty years. In 1978, he founded the Defensa magazine, serving as its war envoy until 1994.
### Journalistic Career
As a journalist, Pérez-Reverte was a correspondent for RTVE (both radio and TV) from 1984 to 1994. He covered various armed conflicts and wars, including those in Cyprus, Lebanon, and the Falklands. His experience as a war correspondent spanned over two decades.
### Writing Career
Pérez-Reverte is the author of several notable works, including The Adventures of Captain Alatriste series and the Falcó trilogy. He has been a member of the Spanish Royal Academy since 2003.
