Location
Avdellero is a village located in the Larnaca District of Cyprus. It has a ridge situated to the north, which can be flown by paraglider and hang glider.
Geography
The village is built at an altitude of 120 meters above sea level. Its location borders several other villages: to the north it borders Athienou, to the east with Trullus, to the south with Aradippou, to the southwest with Kossi, to the west with Lourukina, and to the northwest with Petrovani.
History
It is likely that Avdellero was created in the middle of the Turkish rule period (1670-1770). The area was mainly used for livestock purposes. The village was probably established by some shepherds who built their homes and yards there.
Population
According to the 2011 census, the town had 218 inhabitants. In 2001, the village had a population of 130 inhabitants, as reported by the statistical service of the Republic of Cyprus.
Places of Worship
The main church of the community is the parish church dedicated to Panagia Hematusa, also known as Avdellerou or Avdellerkotissa. There are also several chapels in the village, including the chapel of Agia Marina, the chapel of Archangel Michael, and the chapel of Agios Ioannis Prodromos.
