--- CONTENT ---
Calimana is a kennel bird of the family of Haradrid, which also responds to the Greek site. The scientific name of the species is Vanellis vanellis and does not include subspecies (monotypic).
Nomenclature
The English name of the species lapwing (lap + wing), is of sound origin and comes from the characteristic sound (lapping) made by the wings, when the bird performs small flights near the ground (see Ethics).
Geographical breakdown
Goodmana responds throughout the Old World, in all three forms (epidemic, migratory, transitory), where locally they are very common species. In Eurasia, the western boundaries of its spread, are found in the Atlantic (Canaria) and east in Japan, the north at the far end of Scandinavia (about 70 degrees north) and Siberia, while the south reach Saudi Arabia's headquarters, Iran, a large portion of North India, part of Thailand, to the coast of eastern China.
In Africa, it only responds to Mediterranean countries along the Nile.
Playgrounds
Few areas where he lives and reproduces throughout the year (epidemic), all in Eurasia, mainly in the United Kingdom, Ireland, along the North Sea coast, to southern Norway, in areas of Spain and France, in North Italy and in some pockets in the Balkans in Turkey, B. Iraq and B. Iran.
As a summer-born visitor, however, he responds as a common species almost throughout Europe, Russia, the Caucasus countries, part of Siberia, Kazakhstan, all of Mongolia and BA China.
In Africa, there may be some people nesting in Morocco, but in general, the continent is considered a winter zone.
Winter management areas
The winter areas lie south of the breeding areas, depending on latitude, but are very difficult to separate from each other, since in many countries there is a mixture of epidemic, migratory and winter populations (e.g. in Turkey). What is certain is that almost all regions in Africa are winter areas, as are Saudi Arabia, most of Iraq and Iran, Pakistan, northern India, SE China, South Korea and southern Japan.
Immigrant behaviour
Most people of the well-managed are migratory, with climate conditions exerting a strong influence on migration clusters. The part of the population of Europe, leaving the breeding grounds, heads south and southwest. Migration begins in mid-summer, but can last by waves until autumn months. Thus, for example, in Denmark, the first migratory wave is observed in June and July, with the highest number of about 100,000 to 200,000 birds observed in August. A third wave of good-natured women, who come from further east, appears in October and November. In Israel
