Chinaʹr or Platan or Yablan () is a genus of covered seed plants of the Platanaceae family. It includes about 10 species of large trees up to 30 m high. The species (Platanus cerii) is evergreen, the rest change leaves. In nature are found mainly by the banks of rivers and other wetlands, but it is also possible to grow in dryer places.

Biology

The genus includes about ten deciduous and evergreen species in the Northern Hemisphere around the Mediterranean Sea, in North America, in Central and Asia Minor, as well as in Southwestern and Central Europe.

Chinari also grows along the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus - in Russia, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan , in Crimea and Ukraine. In the Old World, in natural conditions, only two types of "flatwood" grow The natural habitat of the Eastern Chinar is in the Balkans (Albania, Greece, including Cyprus and Crete islands, as well as the Aegean islands). It is also found on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea (Syria, Lebanon and Israel) and in part of the territories of Iran and Afghanistan.

The natural habitat of Platanus Kerrii is Indochina (Vietnam, Laos).

In North America, Platanus racemosa (California) and Platanus wrightii, Platanus Mexicana, Platanus Lindeniana (Mexico), as well as West Chinar (USA).
