Elsis Christofia-Heratou was born in the village of Pelendri, Limassol Province on 7 October 1952. He is the wife of the former President of the Republic of Cyprus, Dimitris Christofias. He has remarkable charity work and is president or honorary president of many charities and organizations in Cyprus.

Biographical data
In 1955 she moved with her family to Limassol, where she lived her childhood and teenage age. Graduated in 1970 from the first Limassol Girls High School, he went to Moscow for studies. He studied at the Moscow Institute of Social Sciences. In 1972 he married Dimitris Christofias, today former President of the Republic of Cyprus. He has three children, two daughters and a son. The field of theatre, music and art in general is within its main interests.

Political career
He worked at the Pancyprian Federation of Women's Organizations (WHO) in 1975–1977. From 1977 until recently, he worked on the Provincial Committee of AKEL Nicosia-Keryneia. He is a member of the Central Committee of AKEL, the Provincial Committee of AKEL Nicosia-Keryneia and the General Council of POGO.
