In the Greek Land Army,' who is at the same time the lowest Petty Officer (OR-4). He is superior to the Corporal / Soldier and inferior to the Sergeant. The corresponding rank in the English-speaking armies is called Corporal (Korporal).

Etymology
The word Corporal comes from Macedonian military terminology: corporal < corporal < ten (radium, satellite). Similarly, the Roman Corporal was called the lieutenant commanding 10 soldiers.

Provisional award
There are situations where a Soldier may receive the rank of Corporal temporarily:

As Corporal of Change. It happens often in training centers where there is a shortage of Corporals. The Soldier receives the rank for a 24-hour, in which he assumes the duties of changing the purposes.
As Company Service Corporal. This usually occurs during initial (basic) education. Each company selects a Soldier and receives the rank only for the time of basic education. The distinguishing (column) of the Company Service Corporal is a strip with the original DL in capital letters, placed on the sleeve of the service-exercise uniform.
