Early Life and Education

Costas Hampiaouris was born in Eba, Cyprus in 1963. He obtained a diploma in pedagogy from the Cyprus Pedagogical Academy, followed by a pedagogical degree from the Pedagogical Department of Municipal Education of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He then pursued further education, earning master's degrees in mathematical education from the University of Cyprus and in education from the University of Bath. Subsequently, he obtained a PhD from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Career

Hampiaouris worked for 32 years in municipal education, holding various positions including teacher, assistant director, director, inspector, and First Education Officer. He also served as Head of the European Fund Management Unit of the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Political Career

In 2018, Hampiaouris was appointed Minister of Education and Culture, a position he held until December 2019. In December 2019, he was appointed as the Mountain Communities Development Commissioner.
