The ERT Choir is part of the ERT musical ensembles and is the oldest mixed professional repertoire choir in Greece; other professional choirs are the Choir of the Lyric Scene, which specializes in opera, as well as the Choir of the Musical Sets of the Municipality of Athens, with which he regularly collaborates in major works of symphony repertoire.

Establishment
It was founded in 1977 by the then director of the Third Program, Mano Hadjidakis as "Dance of the Third".

Her first conductor was Antonis Kontogeorgiou, who shaped the existence and evolution of the choir. Other conductors who occasionally ran the choir are Giannis Mantakas (before its official recommendation), Giannis Adamidis, Ellie Nikolaidou, Theodore Antoniou etc. Also occasionally taught the choir by Fritz Schieri (a professor at Munich Music Academy) and Wolfgang Schubert (director of the Bavarian Radio Choir). Initially it consisted of 18 members, at its height reached 64, while from 2016 it consists of 28 members.

Repertory
Her repertoire includes other works for choir and orchestra of: Verdi, Vivaldi, Kodai, List, Mahler, Mendelson Bartoldi, Mozart, Bach (father and son), Berlioz, Bernstein, Beethoven, Brams, Brookner, Dvorzak, Debussy, Orf, Pergolesi, Prokofiev, Rossini, Saint-Sans, Skriabin, Sostakovich, Shuman and his wife, Schubert, Stravinsky, Fore and Hyden. He participated in the operas Aida and Traviata (Verdi), I Capuleti e i Montecchi and Norma (Belini), Carmen (Bize), Lucrezia Borgia (Donicotti), Les Troyens (Berlioz), L’Orfeo (Monteverdi), The Magic Court, So they all do, Don Giovanni and The Weddings of Figaro (Mochart), Tristan and Isolde (Vagner), The Return of Helen (Miruccicus), The Glass Circle (Maragopoulos), Rea (Samaras) etc.

The activity of the Choir abroad increased in the two years 1993-1994, when the General Director of the Musical Concerts took over Mikis Theodorakis, for which more than 44 appearances were held outside Greece (Anovero, Cairo, Toulouse, Cologne, Munich, Belgrade, Florence, Helsinki, USA, Canada, Cyprus, Turkey and Tunisia). But the repertoire on all these excursions consisted of works exclusively of Mikis Theodorakis.

He has worked with great orchestras, such as the ERT orchestra, Athens State Orchestra, Toulouse Opera Orchestra etc.

The choir has at times worked with other conductors Greeks and foreigners.

The choir, along with the remaining ERT musical ensembles, were dissolved in 2013, but were reconstituted in 2015.
