Evanthos Hatzivassiliou (born 1966) is a university professor of the history of the post-war world in the History and Archaeology department of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Athens. As of October 2020 he is the Secretary General of the Foundation of the Hellenic Parliament for Parliamentaryism and Democracy.
Biographical data
He was born in Doxatos Drama and studied law at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He made graduate studies in the History of International Relations of the London University of Economics (LSE) on a scholarship from IKY and in 1992 he was awarded a doctorate of this. In 2000 he was elected lecturer with a cognitive object of Post-war History in the History and Archaeology department of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Athens, in 2004 an assistant professor, in 2010 an associate professor and in 2015 a regular professor.
He is a member of the scientific committee of the Foundation for Parliamentaryism and Democracy, the Hellenic Parliament and also served as its chairman in 2013 - 2016, a member of the scientific board of the Institute of Democracy "Constantine Karamanlis" and a partner of the Phileducational Society. He has been honored with the First Eleftheriou Venizelos Award by the Hellenic Parliament (1994) with the Athens Academy award (2005), and with the Edmund Keeley Book Prize of Modern Greek Studies Association (2007).
In March 2016 he was appointed Head of the New Democracy Culture Sector.
Written regularly in the paper The Daily. He has written several books on Greek history and participated in a number of conferences.
On 30 October 2020 he was appointed by the President of the Hellenic Parliament Constantine Tasoula, Secretary-General of the Foundation of the Hellenic Parliament for Parliamentaryism and Democracy.
