Elena Baturina

Elena Nikolayevna Baturina (Russian: Елена Николаевна Батурина, born March 8, 1963) is an international entrepreneur, billionaire, and philanthropist of Russian origin. She is the widow of former Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov.

Career

In 1991, Baturina founded Inteco, an investment and construction company, which she led as president for almost 20 years. The company's assets include a chain of hotels in Ireland, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Russia; a membrane-making business in Germany; a renewable energy project in Greece and Italy; and development projects in various countries.

Business Expansion

After selling Inteko (the Russian spelling of Inteco) in 2011, Baturina moved her business abroad. She established BE OPEN, a cultural and social initiative, in 2012. Her investment group, Elena Baturina Investment Group, is expanding its activities in international investment. The portfolio includes projects in the hotel business, renewable energy production, membrane engineering, and residential and commercial real estate development.
