Eptakomi (; Greek: Επτακόμι; Turkish: Yedikonuk) is a village located on the Karpas Peninsula in the north-east of the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. It is situated de facto within the district of İskele of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, while de jure it belongs to the district of Famagosta of the Republic of Cyprus.

History

The village has a long history dating back to at least 1754, when Alexander Drummond marked it on his map. It appeared occasionally in international press reports, such as in 1889 when the British High Commissioner visited the region affected by a massive drought. Between 1911 and 1921, the population reached its maximum of 1017 inhabitants.

Geography

Eptakomi is situated at an elevation of 126 meters above sea level. The village has a total population of 860 people, according to the Statistical Service of Northern Cyprus in 2011.

Origin of the Name

The name "Eptakomi" (or Yedikonuk) refers to the seven settlements belonging to the municipality: Agios Epifanios, Archangelos Michael, Agia Agathi, Agia Erini, Apostolos Loukas, Naptokomi, and Gnaptokomi.
