The 2018 European Athletics Championship was the 24th event of the European Athletics Championship, held under the supervision of the European Sports Federation. The event took place at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, Germany between 6 and 12 August 2018.
The European Athletics Championship was part of the first united European Summer Sports Championship. The 2018 event included seven European championships held from 2 to 12 August in Berlin and Glasgow, Scotland.
48 events, 24 men and 24 women and 2 team events were held in the Championship. 1572 athletes and athletes, 828 men and 744 women from 49 member countries of the Federation took part. In addition, the teams of Neutral Athletes and Refugee Athletes participated.
The women's 50 km walk was added to the league program in 2018 for the first time, as was the 2017 World Athletics Championship. Thus, the European Athletics Championship first achieved equality between women and men's games (24 each).
Ten league records and 34 national records were shot down in the event.

Place of business
The decision to hold the championship in Berlin was taken on 2 November 2013 at the Council of the European Sports Federation.
The European championship was first hosted in Berlin and for the third time in Germany. The previous time was in 2002 at the Munich Olympic stadium and in 1986 at Mercentes-Beds Arena, Stuttgart.
The main part of the event was held at the Olympic Stadium, the walk and the marathon took place along the city streets. The marathon runners had to overcome four circles of 10 kilometers located next to the sights of the German capital: Berlin Zoo, Pillar of Victory, Bellevu Palace and Brandenburg Gate.
For the 20 km walk, a 1 km long lap was organized for all 50 km 2 km walk. The start and finish took place at Breitscheidplatz Square.
Tickets
The league ticket presale began on 24 August 2016. Tickets were available for purchase in five categories, including premium tickets and family tickets. The first 75,000 tickets already had
sold 328 days before the start of the games. For the first time in the European championship so many tickets were sold at this time before the event. In addition to organizing Germany, a large number of sales had the United Kingdom, Poland, Switzerland and the Netherlands. According to the managing director of the Frank Kowalski Championship organizing committee, by mid-July 250,000 tickets had been made available.
