The first category of men's football of Cyprus 1985-86 was the 9th edition of the first category of football of Cyprus under the auspices of the Cyprus Football Federation. The championship won the Uplift for the third time in her history.

Operating system
10 teams participated in the first-class championship 1985–86. All teams competed between them twice, once inside and one away. The champion was declared the team that gathered most points. The league team secured its participation in the 1986–87 men's European football champions' Cup.

No team was demoted.

Score system
Each win was scored by 3 points and every loss by 1 point.

Classification criteria Phase I
The teams were ranked based on the total number of points they won. In case of a tie in the total number of points won by two or more teams higher the team was ranked with the greatest difference between the winners and the lost sets.
