George Fanos was a Cypriot physician and poet. He was born in Nicosia in 1918. He studied medicine in Athens. Returning to Cyprus he practiced the profession of doctor in Famagusta, from 1942 to 1974. After the 1974 Turkish invasion he settled in Paphos where he continued working as a physician.

He dealt with poetry, prose (writing under the pseudonym Sylvias Miradis) and critical study. His collaborations were occasionally hosted in Greek and Cypriot publications.

He published two poetic collections:
In Happy III (1959)
North in Bora (1965)

In his poems the personal, autobiographical tone is intense. Despite the prose rhythms adopted, the characteristics of his poetic creation refer to the dominant interwar movement of neo-symbolism.

He died in 1994 in Paphos.

Miscellaneous
George Fanos is one of the founding members of the sports association Nea Salamina Famagusta. He served as president of the union from November 1948 to 1951.
