George L. Savvidis
Early Life and Education
George L. Savvidis was born in 1959 in Famagusta, Cyprus. He resided there until 1974, after which he moved to Limassol. A distinguished and honorary graduate of the Lanite High School, Savvidis pursued his studies in Law at the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom, where he earned a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. Hons) degree. He was subsequently called to the bar as a Barrister in Middle Temple.
Career
Savvidis is a member of several professional associations, including the Famagusta Bar Association, the Pancyprian Bar Association, and the International Bar Association (IBA). In 2019, he opened a law firm with offices in Limassol and Nicosia. He has been married for an undisclosed period and has three children.
Public Service
On May 31, 2018, Savvidis was appointed as Minister of Justice and Public Order in the Government of Nikos Anastasiades. He held this position until June 29, 2020. In a separate capacity, he currently serves as the Attorney General of the Republic of Cyprus.
