George N. Schoretsanitis is a physician surgeon and doctor of the University of Athens.

Biographical data
He was born in Trikala, Thessaly, on 22 May 1953, and graduated from the 2nd Sixth Yearly Male High School of the city in June 1970. He studied at the Medical School of the University of Athens from which he graduated in June 1976. He served his military service, in 1976–1979. He specialized in Surgery at the Second Surgery Clinic of Athens University, the Areteion Hospital and in 1986 he was awarded the title of surgeon. In 1989 he was awarded doctorate at the University of Athens after a doctoral thesis on: ‘‘Self-transplantation of adrenal tissue into experimental animals’. He was educated in various hospitals in Europe and the US, mostly Westminster Hospital, London, and Mount Zion Hospital of San Francisco.

Since 1990 he has been working in the Surgery Clinic at the University Hospital of Heraklion, in recent years as Director of Surgery. He is a member of many medical companies, Greek and foreign, while many papers have been published in medical journals.
At the same time for decades he has been involved in the history of medicine, culture and folklore of other peoples and travels a lot to various parts of the world.

Lately he has been writing in both the form and the electronic press. The articles published cover the field of bibliography and bibliographics, doctors primarily literaryists, the history of medicine and its oblivion and still presents some travel texts from countries abroad.

He is a member of the Association of Friends of the Museum of Greek Medicine and the Philological, Historical and Literary Association (F.I. L.S.) Trikala.
