Giannakis Kapiou was a Greek Cypriot politician. He was a Member of Parliament in the Limassol Electoral District elected with AKEL in 1991-2001.

Biographical data
Giannakis Kapiou was born in Ano Arodes in 1932. He spoke, beyond Greek, English. He studied law Gray's Inn. He returned to Cyprus in 1958 and opened a law firm. From 1979 to 1991 he was president of the Limassol Bar Association. In addition, he was a member of the Pancyprian Bar Association and the Legal Council.

He was married to Diamond Love and had a son and a daughter. He died on 16 July 2010 from drowning in the Limassol marine area.

Path Policy
During his studies he served as Secretary General of the London Association of Cypriot Students.

In the 1991 parliamentary election he was elected MP in the Limassol Electoral District with AKEL for the Sixth Parliamentary Period. He was re-elected in the 1996 parliamentary election for the VII Parliamentary Period. As Member of Parliament, he served as chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on the Rules of Procedure, chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights, member of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs, member of the Parliamentary Committee on Institutions and Values and member of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Cyprus-European Union.

At the time of his death he was president of the Independent Authority for Investigation of Claims and Complaints.
