Giannakis Chrysostomis is a Greek Cypriot politician, lawyer and judge. He was Minister of Defence of Cyprus.

Biographical data
Giannakis Chrysostomis was born in Famagusta in 1936. He studied law in London. After his studies he worked as a lawyer in Famagusta for eleven years.

In 1971 he was appointed provincial judge and placed in the Limassol District Court. In 1973 he was transferred to the Famagusta District Court. After the Turkish invasion of 1974 and the occupation of Famagusta by the Turkish army, he worked from time to time in the courts of Limassol, Larnaca, Pafos and Paralimni. In 1979 he was promoted to Senior Provincial Judge.

In 1981 he was promoted to the position of President Provincial Court. In 1988 he was appointed Judge of the Supreme Court. He remained in this position until 1999 when he was appointed Minister of Defence.

He's married and has two daughters.

Path Policy
On 5 January 1999 he was appointed Minister of Defence to the Government of Glaukou Clerides, a position in which he remained until 24 August 1999, where he resigned "for reasons of axiom and dignity".
