The Gymnastics Association "The Zenon" (GSZ, , read "Gasisi") is a Cyprus gymnastics club based in Larnaca.
Establishment
In May 1896 the newspaper "New Nation" interpreted the feelings of disappointment of the people of Larnaca for the fact that those responsible did not go decisively towards the creation of a Gymnastics Association. The establishment of Gymnastic Clubs in Limassol (GSO) and Nicosia (GSP) was preceded. The report produced immediate results. On 16 May the establishment of a club called the Gymnastics Association "The Stadium", which was the development of the reading room "Citizen Association". However, there was great indifference in the city and for this reason it took two more years to invite members to adopt the regulation on his evolution into a club at the Gymnastics Association "The Zenon". At the same time, a gym area was found on Artemis Avenue. First president of the GSZ was the mayor of the city of Filios Zannetos.
GSZ took over the event of the Fourth Pacific Athletics Games in 1900. What prompted the sports and political authorities of Larnaca to undertake this event was the enthusiasm created in the city by the only GSZ athlete victory at the 3rd Pacific Athletics Games, in April 1899 when he won the marathon.
