Biography
He was born around 1260. Before being elected Patriarch, John Glicka held important secular positions in the bureaucratic apparatus of the empire. Between 1282 He then took up the post of a drone logo, where he found his election as patriarch in 1315. At that time John was married and already had several children, so he had to part with his wife who was sent to a monastery. Four years later, John III was forced to withdraw from the patriarchal throne because of his poor health. He ends his life at the constantnopol monastery of Kiriotisa.

John XIII was an extremely erudite man, master of secular and ecclesiastical sciences, active writer and teacher. His alumni was Nikifor Grigora and his most significant work was a treatise for the purity of Greek, bearing the title Περί ορθότητος συντά He is also the author of an Encomony for Constantinople, whose text is not preserved. He also made copies of numerous manuscripts.
