July 20 Science High School

20 July High School, one of the oldest educational institutions in Cyprus, was established in 1901. Located in Nicosia, it is also the only science high school in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

"Dansçı Skandalı" (Dancer Scandal)

A scandal occurred at 20 July High School on November 17, 2008, following student council elections. The winning group brought "dancing women" from a nightclub to celebrate their victory during the school's lunch break, causing a stir in Northern Cyprus media. The School Parents' Association stated that they did not consider the incident to be true, but it was exaggerated in the press.

Following an investigation by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Ministry of National Education and Culture, it was announced that "the school administration had serious shortcomings related to the issue." As a result of the investigation, the school principal was suspended.
