Kiomourtzou (; ) is a small village in Cyprus located along the main Kyrenia–Nicosia highway. De facto, it is under the control of Northern Cyprus.
History
After the Turkish invasion of 1974, the village is not controlled by the Republic of Cyprus. The village has always been inhabited exclusively by Turkish Cypriots.
Population
According to the statistical service of Northern Cyprus in 2011, the village has 67 inhabitants. Prior to that, the population fluctuated between 40 and 55 inhabitants during the first half of the century. In 1946, the population was 44 inhabitants, which increased to 63 in 1960.
Physical Geography
Kiomourtzou is located at the southern slopes of Pentadaktylos, three km west of the Kyrenia Pass and a half km southwest of Agirda/Ağırdağ. The Turkish meaning of Kömurcü is "coal seller".
District and Province
De iure, Kiomourtzou belongs to the district of Kyrenia of the Republic of Cyprus, while de facto it belongs to the district of Girne in Northern Cyprus.
