Kostas N. Hatzikosti (Kostis Hatzikosti) is a Cypriot lawyer, journalist, columnist, author and publisher. He is president of the “DIA” Group, the largest media organization in Cyprus.
Life Story
He was born in Kato Paphos, Cyprus on 2 January 1939. He attended Paphos High School. He studied economics, law and journalism at the University of Athens.
From a young student he was involved in politics and was a member of the militant youth of the Centre Association, when the Adendos Race was held, led by George Papandreou.
Reporting activity
In 1964, he returned to Cyprus, where he practiced fighting law in Nicosia and Morfu until 1971. During the same period (1964-1971) he worked on a daily basis with the newspaper "Freedom", as a political and economic commentator and columnist. As an envoy of "Freedom" in Greece, he interviewed the political leadership of Greece, in late December 1966 with early January 1967. Among them Stefanos Stefanopoulos (Prime Minister), Panayiotis Kanellopoulos (leader of EPE), Spyros Markezinis (leader of Progressives), Andreas Papandreou (leader of the Centre Association) and Panagiotis Pipinelis (former prime minister and head of ERE). From 1968 until 1971 he published the weekly newspaper "Free Step". For two years (1971–1973) he served on a special diplomatic mission to the High Commissioner in London, and then returned to his legal profession.
Editorial activity
In 1976, with other collaborators, he created in Cyprus the publishing group “UNITED JOURNALISTS DIOS COMPANY LTD” and published the daily newspaper “Today”. The publishing organization Dias, the development of the first company, was later extended to other publishing sectors. So from 1986 he began publishing the first weekly magazine of variety "The Magazine" and since 1990 he organized and started the broadcasts of the first private Cypriot radio station, Radio One “In 1995 it launched the first substantial, private Cypriot television channel, “Sigma TV”
He then publishes the magazines “MUST”, “MAN”, “XTRME”, “TVSTAR”, “TimeOUT”, “TimeOUT ATHENS”, “other”
He's married and father of two children.
