Alisma lanceolatum

Distribution and Habitat

Alisma lanceolatum is a species of flowering plant that is endemic to Brazil. It is also found in other parts of the world, including Europe, North Africa, and West Asia.

Description

The plant grows up to 100 inches (254 cm) tall and has linear or lancet-shaped leaves with a wedge-like base. The inner petals of the flower are pointed and smooth, typically pink in color. The flowers produce bubbles that are 1-2 centimeters in diameter. The leaf blades are wide lanceolate or elliptical in shape, measuring 9-13 cm × 2.5-5.5 cm, sometimes larger.

Reproductive Characteristics

The plant produces white or pink petals with a size of 4-6.5 mm. The anthers are elliptical or longitudinal, measuring 1-1.2 mm in length. The ovary is egg-shaped and measures 1.5-3.2 × 2-2.5 mm.

Chromosome Number

The chromosome number of Alisma lanceolatum is reported to be 24, 26, or 28 (2n).

Reproduction Cycle

The plant reproduces in June and September, with a kevon and fetus stage occurring during this time.
