In the first years of the existence of the National People's Army, the military attachés were assigned to the Foreign Department of the Ministry of National Defense. In 1974, they were placed under the Chief of Military Intelligence of the National People's Army. The following list includes a list of all military attachés and their assistants who were in service for the German Democratic Republic between 1952 and 1990.
During the mission, the ranks have changed in accordance with the provisions of the National People's Army (promotions). The list mentions the last known ranks.
