Territories are sometimes designated by means of periphrases of different origins: ancient local appellations (cf. Morocco, China, Japan or Korea), geographical characteristic (cf. France or Italy), or stereotype (cf. Norway, Australia...). These designations do not always correspond exactly to the official borders of States (in particular, Hexagon does not take into account the DOM, Korea is a set of two states).

Specialties are not included in this list ("country of chocolate", "country of frog eaters", "country of banking secrecy", etc.).

: the country of integrity (in Moorish, Burkina means integrity men while Faso designates the country in Bambara language. Both languages are widely used by Burkinabe.
