Love Games (Belle and the Devotions Song)

In 1984, Belle and the Devotions represented the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Competition with their song "Love Games". The song was written by Paul Curtis and Graham Sacher. This marked a significant moment in the band's career as they won the right to perform in Luxembourg after winning the UK national final, A Song for Europe.

The competition took place on April 5, 1984, at the Philharmonie in Luxembourg City, where Belle and the Devotions performed sixth out of ten acts. Following Norway's Dollie de Luxe with "Lenge leve livet", they were preceded by Cyprus' Andy Paul with his song "Anna Maria Lena". The performance was notable for its energetic stage presence, as seen in various photos from that night.

The audience reaction to the performance was mixed, however. While some fans cheered, others booed due to their disappointment at not winning first place. Despite this, Belle and the Devotions secured a respectable 7th place with 63 points.

"Love Games" itself is an upbeat pop song that showcases the band's energetic style. The song has two distinct versions: a 7-inch single version running for 3 minutes and 16 seconds, and a 12-inch extended version clocking in at 4 minutes and 51 seconds. A CD release of the 12-inch version was not initially available.
