Marathon Kato Varostia was a Cypriot football team based in Kato Varossi, a district of Famagusta. It was part of the sports association Marathon Lower Barosia. The association's men's football team was created in 1937. After the Turkish invasion and the occupation of Famagusta in 1974 Marathon was reactivated in Larnaca. The team is now inactive.
History
In 1939 the Society of the Brotherhood was founded in Lower Varsy which had the primary goal of spreading football. He created a football team which participated in regional matches. In 1948 it was renamed the Lower Baron Marathon. It is one of the founding members of the Cyprus Football Federation (February 1978).
The marathon men's football team participated in various football tournaments, even before an official world championship was organized. In 1958, 1960 and 1962 Marathon won the championships organized by the Local Committee of SEGAS Cyprus (TESK). With the establishment of the Cyprus Football Federation he continued to take part in the federation's events. The team had many attendances in the first category of men. He had also won the second-class championship once (1993–94) and once the second-class cup (2007–08). In 2008 it suspended its operation.
