Margarita Violeta Savoyska (born 15 November 1635) was a Duchess of Parma and Piacenza from the Savoy Dynasty.

Origin
She was the fifth child and second daughter of Victor Amaday I Savoyski (b. 1587,† 1637), the 12th Duke of Savoya (1630 . " 1637) and Prince of Piedmont, and his wife Princess Maria Cristina-French (b. 1666, † 1663). Her grandfather and grandmother on her father's side are Duke Karl-Emanuel I of Savoy and Catalina of Spanish, and by mother's side the King of France Henri IV and Maria de Medici.

There are three brothers and three sisters:

Biography

Early years
The princess' father died in October 1637 when she was only two years old. So her older brother Franz HYACINTH became Duke of Savoy at the age of five. Her mother became regent of the Savoy Duke.

She grew up at a time when her two uncles, Prince Maureki and his younger brother, Prince Thomas Savoyski, fought for power with her mother and her French surroundings. When Franz HYACINTH died in 1638, the two brothers began civil war in Piedmont with the support of Spain. Both sides of the conflict are referred to as "the prince's supporters" and "madamisti" (the Duchess' supporters). Franz HYACINTH was inherited to the throne by his younger brother Prince Carl Emmanuel II.

The first of Margarita Violeta's brothers and sisters to marry is her older sister Luisa Christina, who, in 1642, at the age of 13, became the wife of her uncle Morris Savoyski, thereby sealing the peace treaty between her mother and her uncles. A younger sister, Princess Henriette Adelaide, then became in 1650 the wife of the Bavarian Crown Prince (later curfurst) Ferdinand Maria.

Marriage and Marriage Negotiations
